With both the non-fasting and fasting Healthy Heart Programs, participants receive a counseling brochure with their test results at the health screening. Summit Health professionals review these results with participants during their 15 minute health screening sessions.

Healthy Heart Packages - Venipuncture

Diagnostic lab tests may be done on blood obtained through venipuncture (drawing blood from a vein in the arm). Through a strategic alliance with Laboratory Corporation of America (a leading diagnostic company), Summit Health is able to offer more than 500 diagnostic tests on blood samples. Published reports document that venipuncture is less painful than finger sticks due to fact that the anterior side of the arm has fewer nerves than the fingertips.

Venipuncture lab tests provide for a significantly larger number of test options than fingerstick test results. A physician reviews each participant’s results after laboratory testing. A comprehensive report including actual lab results and interpretive risk analysis is mailed to participants within two weeks of the health screening.
