About Me
Andrew M. Hutter, MD, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon practicing with Summit Health. Dr. Hutter is a general orthopedic surgeon treating a variety of conditions including athletic injuries, arthritic conditions, fractures as well as neck and back pain. He has been in practice in the community since completing his orthopedic residency in 1988. Initially a trauma surgeon, Dr. Hutter has extensive experience with knee and shoulder arthroscopy and lumbar pain management. However, his current concentration is the in-office practice of orthopedics.
Dr. Hutter has extensive expertise in orthopedic occupational medicine and is skilled in treating workplace injuries. He understands the importance of prompt diagnosis and treatment to get patients back to work quickly and safely. Dr. Hutter strongly believes in the benefit of patients being active participants in their own recovery and will work with them to develop a treatment plan that will help them get back to their healthiest self.
Dr. Hutter is also a certified acupuncturist, having received his training through UCLA. He believes in complementary medicine and utilizes acupuncture in addition to traditional medicine, a combination which, when appropriate, can be very effective. Dr. Hutter previously served on the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Committee on Complementary and Alternative Medicine. He was a contributing and reviewing editor for the AAOS 2003 Body Almanac, a book for the lay population on bone and joint health.
He has been an Assistant Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the Red Bull and Metrostars professional soccer teams, the NJ Gladiators of the Arena Football League and the NJ Storm of the National Lacrosse League. He has also served as an orthopedic consultant to various local high schools.
Dr. Hutter is currently a lecturer at Howard University College of Medicine, his alma mater. He lectures to the orthopedic residents as part of their academic program.
Dr. Hutter proudly practices in the community where he grew up. He is involved in many local organizations including Congregation Etz Chaim, where he is a past president and in the Friendship Circle. He is the past chairman of the Metro New Jersey Israel Bond Organization and presently serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for Israel Bonds Nationally. Dr. Hutter has led several medical missions to Israel on behalf of Israel Bonds.
