Asma Jafri, MD, pursued a career in health care to have the opportunity to interact with others, and have the dynamics to consistently feed her curiosity and feel purposeful. Dr. Jafri’s area of expertise is Internal medicine, where she treats a range of acute and chronic illnesses that affect adults – this could range from hypertension to diabetes to the common cold.

“Ultimately, I want to foster interest in patients regarding their own health. For many people, health is not prioritized, and it can even be burdensome”, she says. The doctor’s philosophy is that a patient’s health is a team effort, including the physician and the patient. Further, she believes that enthusiasm and engagement from the patient is what she would like to be the driving force in their care.

During a patient visit, Dr. Jafri likes to educate her patients to have a thorough understanding of their own health. Additionally, she wants a patient to be fully aware of their health, the next steps involved, and what they can do to achieve their goals knowing I am by their side to help guide them.

Medicine is both a science and an art, according to the doctor. Her joy comes from talking to her patients, developing a rapport with them, and learning from them every day. This is what drives her in her practice and to be an even better physician.

Outside of treating patients, Dr. Jafri enjoys reading, attending concerts, going to museums, and spending time with family and friends. She is also passionate about physicians creating confidence in their patients through education and encouragement and would like to educate the community about the importance of preventative care.
