Michael L. Gross, MD is part of Summit Health’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team. Dr. Gross specializes in the treatment and prevention of shoulder, knee, and elbow injuries, applying principles of sports care to provide efficient treatment and safe return to normal, healthy activity.
Dr. Gross has wanted to be an orthopedist since he jumped off a swing at five years old and broke his wrist. “That experience taught me the importance of compassionate care, and because of it, I treat every patient as if they were a member of my own family,” says Dr. Gross. “As a physician, I also greatly enjoy establishing connections with my patients, identifying their problem, planning a solution, and implementing a plan that will improve their overall well-being.”
Dr. Gross sits on the Foundation Board of Hackensack University Medical Center, where he also serves as Chief of Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He also sits on the Board of Managers for Hudson Crossing Surgical Center and is Chairman for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (an affiliate of Rutgers University). Dr. Gross currently serves as Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and a member of the New Jersey Orthopedic Society, the American Medical Association, and the Bergen County Medical Society.

When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Gross enjoys keeping up with his general wellness. He is currently working on a novel.
