About Me

Michael A. Parziale, MD, joined Summit Health in 2004. He is an attending physician at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey, and Berkeley Heights Convalescent Center in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. Since 1991, Dr. Parziale has been Medical Director of the King James Care Center in Chatham, New Jersey. He practiced privately in Millburn, New Jersey, from 1986 until 2004. Dr. Parziale's professional interests are devoted to general internal medicine.

An exceptional undergraduate and graduate student, Dr. Parziale was a Mennen Scholar at Fairleigh Dickinson University and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

As a child, Dr. Parziale's parents emphasized the value of hard work and long-term goals. In addition, his grandmother, an immigrant, lived with his family and shared her stories about growing up in another country and moving to the United States. He notes, "My grandmother taught me that change is a privilege to embrace. She instilled me with the courage and motivation to seek new challenges." His experience with his grandmother gave him a deep understanding of the wisdom of older adults. As a result, he is especially sensitive to the needs and concerns of his older patients.

Dr. Parziale studied medicine because he was eager to help others. An advocate of preventive care, he believes in providing his patients with the education they need to make informed decisions about their health and health care. He also explores and presents nonmedical as well as medical therapies to help his patients restore and maintain their health. He adds, "Although my patients rely on me for diagnoses, I partner with them and their families in the healing process."

When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Parziale is an avid gardener and seasoned traveler.
