Phillip D. Zhang, MD is a member of Summit Health's Rheumatology team. Dr. Zhang diagnoses and treats a variety of common and complex rheumatologic and musculoskeletal conditions, including osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, gout, scleroderma, and more.
Dr. Zhang enjoys building long-term relationships with his patients and helping them improve their quality of life. “The most important thing for me during a visit is making sure my patients feel comfortable with the plan that we formulate together and that they have the opportunity to get all of their questions answered,” says Dr. Zhang.
When treating patients, Dr. Zhang prefers taking a broad approach to his practice rather than focusing on specific conditions. “Oftentimes, a patient’s rheumatologic condition is inherently linked to their overall health, so it’s important to address all aspects of their condition,” says Dr. Zhang.
Dr. Zhang has vast research experience. During his fellowship, he investigated the clinical utility of implementing a new disease activity index in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians.
When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Zhang likes to play sports, travel, and spend time with his wife and son.
