About Me
Riley Coopersmith, PA-C is a member of Summit Health’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team. Ms. Coopersmith pursued a career in health care because it offered the opportunity to interact with patients while continuing to evolve in medicine. As a college soccer player, she had many orthopedic injuries and wanted to provide her patients with the same level of care given to her.
She specializes in orthopedic surgery which involves any injuries or problems of the muscles, bones, and joints. Regarding her approach to patient care, Ms. Coopersmith “listens to the concerns of the patient to ensure I am properly addressing why they sought guidance in the first place”, she says. She believes empathy and understanding goes a long way when treating a patient.
Most important during a patient visit is for the patient to feel their concerns are addressed and that they receive proper care for their ailment. It’s important for her patients to have open and honest communication without feeling judgement or fearing their voice won’t be heard. In addition, Ms. Coopersmith gets great satisfaction meeting new people and having an impact on improving a patient’s quality of life. She finds it very rewarding to see her patients return to activities they enjoy but were unable to do so before coming to see her.
When not seeing patients, Ms. Coopersmith enjoys running, exercising, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
