Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon brings 12 years of practice experience to Summit Health.

Berkeley Heights, NJ, December 6, 2021 — Expanding its New York Orthopedic and Sports Medicine offering, Summit Health today welcomed Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Jenny Frances, MD, MPH, to the team. General orthopedics is a specialty dealing with the musculoskeletal system—the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and nerves. Pediatric Orthopedics relates to musculoskeletal care in children, and includes taking care of injuries, fractures, as well as congenital and developmental problems. Dr. Frances has completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed her Orthopedic Surgery residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook, NY. She was a guest physician at Karolinska Institute, at the Department of Orthopedics. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University, Waltham, MA, and MPH from Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and her Board Certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Frances will join doctors Andrew Farber, DO (Hand Surgery, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine) and Timothy G. Reish, MD (Orthopedics and Sports Medicine) at their Manhattan practice located at 260 East 66th Street and will be seeing both adults and children.

Dr. Frances treats sports injuries and fractures, as well as other more complex pediatric orthopedic problems, such as scoliosis, lower extremity deformities, Perthes disease, Blount’s disease, hip dysplasia, benign bone tumors, neuromuscular conditions and clubfoot.

In addition, she sees adult patients in need of general orthopedic care, with attention to focusing on treatment plans and education to optimize improvement with nonoperative options when possible.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Frances to Summit Health’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Manhattan practice,” said Daniel Frogel, MD, Chief Medical Officer, New York Region. “With her approach to care that includes an eye toward young patients’ individual needs, activities, and lifestyles, Dr. Frances’ pediatric expertise helps to round out the rest of the team’s capabilities.”

Dr. Frances also focuses on easing the minds of her patients and families alike, providing helpful information relevant to their conditions and treatment plans. “It’s important to me to make a difference in my patients’ lives and help them get better,” she said. “I love working with children—they are an inspiration every day.”

In her free time Dr. Frances enjoys spending time with her daughter and dog, making visits to the Poconos, kayaking, hiking, biking, and skiing. She is passionate about community and parent education on preventing and mitigating difficult conditions in children such as clubfoot and hip dysplasia.
