About Me
Alon Terry, MD, specializes in the nonoperative treatment of sports and spine injuries. Dr. Terry focuses on conservative treatments, including detailed and customized rehabilitation plans, selective injections and minimally invasive procedures to achieve patients’ goals. He uses fluoroscopic-guided injections in the lumbar spine to treat pain associated with herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and spine arthritis. He uses onsite musculoskeletal ultrasound to help diagnose and guide steroid injections and viscosupplementation injections for a wide range of joint and tendon disorders.
While he practiced at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Terry also was Assistant Team Physician for the St. John’s University Men’s Lacrosse team and St. Peter’s University Men’s and Woman’s Basketball and Soccer teams. His research interests are primarily devoted to regenerative treatments such as platelet-rich plasma to treat chronic tendon disorders and discogenic low back pain.
Dr. Terry’s interest in sports medicine came from many years of involvement in competitive athletics, including collegiate soccer at Northwestern University. Sports and exercise still play an important role in his life. Dr. Terry understands the importance of injury prevention and how to help athletes of all levels safely and effectively return to their sport after injury.
Dr. Terry was raised in South Orange, New Jersey. In his free time, he enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and going on adventures with his wife and two daughters.
Dr. Terry says, “I believe in providing patient-centered care to maximize each of my patient’s function and quality of life.”
