About Me

Ross J. Fox, MD, FAAOS, specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s contracture, fractures care of the hand, wrist, and forearm. He also specializes in treatment for osteoarthritis of the hand, wrist, and elbow, and treatment for nerve and tendon injuries of the hand, wrist and elbow.

Dr. Fox has practiced with North Jersey Hand Surgery since 2002. He also has practiced with Garden State Orthopedics and he has been an attending surgeon in trauma and adult reconstruction for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is a member of the Surgical Center at Cedar Knolls Board of Directors and he is a member of the Surgical Center at Millburn Board of Directors.

Dr. Fox says, “People use their hands for different reasons and in different ways. For this reason, I believe it’s important to learn about each patient’s hand function before injury, understand what he or she would like to achieve from surgery and develop a customized treatment plan to achieve the goals.” He adds, “Hand surgery is gratifying because it allows me to offer creative solutions to address each of my patient’s unique needs.”

Dr. Fox is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Morris County Medical Society, the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the New Jersey Orthopaedic Society. His research interests include the study of the finger, hand, and elbow carpometacarpal arthritis and treatment, ligament biomechanics and joint kinematics, among others. Dr. Fox is the author of articles and abstracts on these and related topics that are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the Journal of Hand Surgery, the American Journal of Sports Medicine and Knee Surgery, the Sports Traumatology, and Arthroscopy. He has been a reviewer for Journal of Orthopaedic Research. He is the former Chief Editor of The Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Journal and has delivered local, regional and national invited presentations in his field.
