NEW YORK AND BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ, AUGUST 24, 2022Summit Health, formed by the merger of CityMD and Summit Medical Group, today announced the appointment of Amy Smith as Chief People Officer. With 25 years of experience in human resources leadership roles, Smith has extensive experience in culture building, professional development, inclusion, and team member experiences—all prerequisites to making Summit Health one of the best places to work in health care.

Amy will report to CEO Jeff Alter and will lead Summit Health’s cultural evolution with responsibility for all aspects of the company’s people strategy that includes a keen focus on attracting, retaining, and developing talent, culture, experience, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across the company’s operating brands and corporate team.

Over her distinguished career, Amy has held leadership roles in a broad range of disciplines across Human Resources and Operations and has led many transformative initiatives to enhance culture, inclusion, experience, and development of people.

David Diamond, Summit Health’s Chief Human Resources Officer, will remain in his role, reporting to Amy, and will be primarily focused on the enterprise administration and leadership of the company’s critical HR functions, including talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, and human resources information system (HRIS). Additionally, Natalie Thigpen, the company’s Senior Vice President of Culture, Engagement, and DEI, will report to Amy.

Prior to joining Summit Health, Amy was Staff Vice President, Human Resources at Anthem, Inc., aligned to support several large, complex, multi-functional organizations comprised of 13,000 associates responsible for implementing and driving people strategies and processes to attract, build and retain a high-performing workforce. Before joining Anthem, Amy was Vice President, Implementation at ADP, a $13.3B global provider of cloud-based Human Capital Management solutions and Business Process Outsourcing services, analytics, and compliance expertise. Amy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration: Management from Georgia Southwestern State University and is an HRCI/SHRM Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
