Our Summit Health Pediatric Endocrinology team uses a collaborative approach that empowers both patients and parents to actively participate in their care and the decision-making process. We place a strong emphasis on open communication and thorough explanation of the science and thought process behind each decision and course of action. Our primary goal is for patients to leave their visit feeling confident that a purposeful plan is in place and will be followed.     

Conditions We Treat

We treat a wide range of common and rare endocrine disorders in newborns, children and adolescents, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes as well as calcium and bone health disorders, thyroid disorders, growth disorders, adrenal gland disorders, puberty disorders, pituitary disorders, obesity, endocrine late effects post cancer treatment, gender dysphoria and genetic endocrine disorders. Team member and pediatric endocrinology specialist, Dr. Jennifer Sivitz has a special interest and board certification in Obesity Medicine while Dr. Sadana Balachandar has a special interest in the long-term endocrine effects of childhood cancer treatment as well as caring for children with NF-1 and optic gliomas.

Our Summit Health pediatric endocrinologists collaborate with primary care physicians as well as pediatric specialists to diagnosis both common and rare pediatric endocrine conditions. 

They perform in-office diagnostic tests including:

• Growth hormone stimulation testing
• Growth hormone suppression testing
• ACTH stimulation testing
• Leuprolide stimulation testing
• Oral glucose tolerance testing

They have many services available to effectively and efficiently evaluate, treat and manage endocrine conditions including:

• Dual-emission X ray absorptiometry (DEXA) bone mineral density scanning
• Bone age X ray imaging
• Thyroid ultrasound imaging
• Pelvic ultrasound imaging
