About Me

Johanna Kaufman, MD, FAAP is a member of Summit Health's Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine team. Dr. Kaufman specializes in general pediatric care from newborn to adolescence with a focus on preventive health.

Dr. Kaufman emphasizes education as part of patient care. She also works to empower her patients and families to take active roles in their treatment. “The most important thing to me during a visit is that my patients and families leave the office with more knowledge and reassurance,” she said.

Dr. Kaufman’s parents’ professions—a science teacher and a physician—inspired her to pursue a career in health care and combined her love for science and helping others. These days she also loves seeing her patients and families smile, whether from minds being eased or jokes being shared. “It’s the best part of pediatrics,” she says.

In her free time, Dr. Kaufman enjoys reading, baking bread and sweet treats, and volunteering in the community.
