About Me

Oscar Vazquez, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team. Dr. Vazquez is dual board certified in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. He is proficient in advanced arthroscopic procedures, including the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. In addition to fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine, he has sub-specialization in shoulder and elbow surgery, including trauma, ligament reconstruction, and arthroplasty including revision. He also has training in the latest techniques of hip preservation using arthroscopic procedures such as labral repair and impingement correction surgery.

Dr. Vazquez enjoys having the ability to alleviate patients’ pain and assist them in recovering from injury.
His approach to patient care is to identify the patient’s problem accurately and efficiently and provide an effective solution to enable a patient to get back to doing the activities they love. “While working towards this goal, I also do my best to create a comfortable environment where I can develop a patient’s trust and ensure they are on board with the treatment plan,” he adds.

Dr. Vazquez has authored numerous papers and conducted research studies diving into the treatment of various sports injuries. He has gone on medical missions to Honduras, El Salvador, and Jamaica. He is the team physician for multiple colleges and high schools including Steven Institute of Technology, Felician University, and St. Thomas Aquinas College. He also works with USA Boxing and Golden Gloves, two organizations that promote physical fitness and emotional well-being for the social development of young athletes across the country.

When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Vazquez enjoys spending time with his beautiful family, traveling, and learning about Spanish culture. He is a marathon runner, completing the last four New York marathons, and continues to play soccer as a member of the Hoboken F.C. Soccer Club.
