About Me
Peter S. Kim, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Gastroenterology team. Dr. Kim treats the broad spectrum of gastroenterological conditions in adults, including performing colonoscopy and upper endoscopy procedures.
Dr. Kim’s approach to care is attentive, compassionate, and thorough. In a moment that often feels anxious and vulnerable for patients, he works to provide reassurance through open conversation and shared decision-making. “I always feel honored that my patients have chosen me to care for their health,” he said. “I want them to feel that I’m their medical advocate.”
The intellectual stimulation and continuous learning within medicine, combined with the opportunity to help others, attracted Dr. Kim to his career in health care. He has found the latter particularly rewarding. “I enjoy knowing that my patients leave their encounter with me feeling better than before and with hope,” he said.
Dr. Kim is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
Dr. Kim is passionate about charity care and has served as a volunteer doctor at the Bowery Mission’s free medical clinic in New York City for more than 15 years.
