About Me
Richard O. Nelson, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Internal Medicine team.
After completing his residency, Dr. Nelson served in the US Navy Reserve at the Navy Regional Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, and aboard the USNS Comfort in the Persian Gulf during Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Dr. Nelson has served on the Summit Health Board of Directors and is a member of the Overlook Medical Center Primary Care Leadership Council. He is President of the Enright Melanoma Foundation — a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising sun safety awareness and helping prevent melanoma through education and early detection. Dr. Nelson has been featured in the New Jersey Monthly “Top Doctors" listings.
Dr. Nelson believes that the complexities of modern life make it especially important to exercise, eat right, and take time to relax and enjoy life. When he is not working with his patients, he enjoys fishing, skiing, photography, and spending time with his family.
