About Me

Sunita Borkar, MD, is a member of Summit Health’s Radiology team. Dr. Borkar specializes in all aspects of breast imaging and intervention, including screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasounds and MRIs, contrast enhanced spectral mammography. She also has expertise in breast intervention such as ultrasound-guided breast biopsies and fine needle aspirations, tomosynthesis, stereotactic-guided breast biopsies, MRI-guided breast biopsies, and pre-surgery wire localizations.
Dr. Borkar’s father passed away from brain cancer, an unfortunate reality that motivated her medical training and path to helping others on their health care journeys. Dr. Borkar performs every procedure with compassion, empathy, and a strong emphasis on ensuring comfortability. Her goal is to motivate a greater number of people to be more proactive regarding their health, especially through early screenings, something that can benefit many. She says, “Preventive care is paramount, and to be able to be part of early detection, which has potential life-saving benefits, is truly gratifying.”

Dr. Borkar is a member of the American college of Radiology, the Society of Breast Imaging, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine.

When not working with patients, Dr. Borkar enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She also supports breast cancer charities and is passionate about improving access to education for impoverished children in third world countries.
