About Me
Thomas K. John, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team. Dr. John is an orthopedic surgeon who manages all aspects of care for the hip, knee, and surrounding areas—from a simple sprain to an advanced bone-on-bone disease, and everything in between. Additionally, he performs reconstruction and joint replacement surgery. His surgical expertise lies in minimally invasive, rapid recovery hip and knee replacement, robotic surgery, and computer-assisted surgery. In addition to routine fracture care, Dr. John performs revision surgeries and treats more complex conditions such as congenital deformities.
Dr. John strongly believes that no two patients are the same. He says, “There is no one size fits all approach – both metaphorically and clinically. Each person needs individualized care, careful analysis and diagnosis, and they need to try nonoperative treatments before rushing to surgery.” He adds, “If surgery is necessary, each person will receive an operation that is customized to solve his or her disease.”
Through utilization of state-of-the-art technology like robotics and computer-assisted navigation, Dr. John is able to see people return to their daily lives with minimal pain and maximum function, which is an extremely gratifying part of his specialty.
Dr. John is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, amongst various other professional memberships. He has published over thirteen medical articles and has presented his findings nationally over a dozen times.
During his free time, Dr. John spends time with my wife, two children, and his puppy. He also enjoys playing and listening to music, as well as traveling.
