NEW YORK AND BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY – Summit Health, the region’s premier multispecialty physician group, today announced the addition of Leslie L. Montgomery, MD, FACS, FSSO, a board-certified surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer care, to the expert team of providers at Summit Health Breast Care Center.

Prior to joining Summit Health, Dr. Montgomery was Chief of the Division of Breast Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center and the Co-Director of the Breast Cancer Service at John Theurer Cancer Center in New Jersey.

Dr. Montgomery was formerly at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where she was an attending breast surgeon for more than 11 years. During that time, she served as the Director of the Special Surveillance Breast Program and the Director of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program.

Dr. Montgomery received her undergraduate degree at Stanford University where she graduated with honors and distinction and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. As the Regents scholar, she earned her medical degree at the University of California at San Francisco where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and a recipient of the Women in Medicine Achievement Award. After her residency in general surgery at the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, she completed research fellowships at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Montgomery has a subspecialty interest in malignant diseases of the breast. Her research interests include preoperative therapy trials to reduce the burden of disease in the breast and axillary nodes, particularly in patient with triple negative breast cancer.

The Summit Health Breast Care Center offers comprehensive support and care of benign breast health conditions and all stages of breast cancer.
