About Me
Ishack Abdul, NP, is a nurse practitioner with Summit Health’s Internal Medicine team. He decided to pursue health care because he wanted to assist the underserved and help close the health disparity gap in his Afghani community. Mr. Abdul realized the importance of good primary care. “In my opinion the best care is preventative care”. Mr. Abdul would like patients to view him as more than just a medical provider, but see him as their medical provider.
He treats patients from adolescents to geriatrics. His area of expertise is internal and family medicine.
Most important during a patient visit is to “talk and listen to my patients, building a long-term relationship with them,” says Mr. Abdul. “My passion for medicine comes from people. We don’t treat disease, we help people. Helping them create individualized plans that lead to their success. I don’t criticize my patients when they fail, I always say “let’s find a way to make it work for you!”
When not practicing medicine, Mr. Abdul enjoys fantasy books, failing at fantasy football, cycling, video games, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He is also passionate about continuing medical education and treating the underserved in the community, and abroad.
