About Me

Matthew H. Zornitzer, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Orthopedic team. Dr. Zornitzer specializes in general orthopedics, limitation and dysfunction of the hand and upper extremity, and occupational medicine/workers’ comp injury.

Dr. Zornitzer is trained and has extensive experience in treating a range of conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome (ulnar nerve compression at the elbow) endoscopically through small incisions, a less invasive technique that means less pain and healing time for a patient. Dr. Zornitzer also treats complex fracturess and ligament injuries of the elbow and hand, with a particular interest and expertise in dealing with complex injuries to the wrist. Additionally, he performs surgery for arthritis of the hand and wrist and offers Xiaflex injections, a minimally invasive office based procedure to treat Dupuytren’s contracture.

Dr. Zornitzer is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and earned the distinguished subspecialty certification of additional qualification (CAQ) in hand and upper extremity. His expertise has benefited practice patients and community residents alike. Dr. Zornitzer’s past experience includes treating patients with hand and upper extremity disorders at Advanced Centers for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in Maryland. Outside the office, he has served as team physician for many high school and college level football and basketball teams. He has provided medical coverage for Mount Saint Mary College’s Division I men’s and women’s basketball teams and the University of Pittsburgh Men’s Division I football team, as well as both the men’s and women’s Division I basketball teams. He also served as a consulting hand surgeon for both the New Jersey Ironmen indoor professional soccer team and the New Jersey Rockhoppers professional ice hockey team.

Dr. Zornitzer is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been named as “Top Doctor” six years running in NJ Monthly Magazine (2013 – 2018).

Dr. Zornitzer is a proud graduate of Livingston High School. Having grown up in this community, he relishes the opportunity to treat former teachers, as well as his own friends and their parents for their injuries and ailments. When not caring for patients, Dr. Zornitzer enjoys spending time with his family. He is a proud husband and father of three.
