About Me

Raghu Loganathan, MD, FCCP, FCCM is a member of Summit Health’s Pulmonology team. Dr. Loganathan specializes in pulmonary medicine with broad expertise in asthma, COPD, lung cancer and inflammatory and interstitial disorders of the lung. Before joining Summit Health, he was the Divisional Director of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine with St. Barnabas Hospital Health System and an Associate Professor in Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Loganathan is a recognized expert in the field of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine and has held several leadership positions at various organizations. In addition to serving as Program Chair (2009) and President (2012) at the New York State Thoracic Society, he was the Chair of the Critical Care Committee and a member of the Medical Advisory Board at LiveOn NY (New York state organ donor network). He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine and the New York Academy of Medicine, and a member of the American Thoracic Society.

Dr. Loganathan has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the Alfred Soffer Research Award (2002, CHEST Foundation), Doctor of the Year and Patient Safety Champion Award (2009, Lincoln Medical Center, NY), Castle Connolly NY Metro Top Doctors (2012) and Outstanding Teaching Award (2019, St. Barnabas Hospital). He has trained and mentored several residents and fellows over the past decade and established large multidisciplinary clinical programs including one of the largest centers for asthma in New York City. Dr. Loganathan is also an accomplished researcher and has presented several peer reviewed abstracts at national meetings and authored articles in the field of asthma and lung cancer.

Dr. Loganathan’s areas of clinical interests include airway diseases like asthma and COPD, gender differences in lung disease, screening and diagnosis of lung cancer, interstitial/ inflammatory lung disease and smoking cessation.

“Patient centered care” and “personalized medicine” are two principles that drive Dr. Loganathan’s philosophy of medicine. He says, “chronic pulmonary conditions like asthma should not control the patient, rather the patient should be able manage them effectively with the aid of their physician”. He strongly believes that communication and easy accessibility to clinical care through modern day technology will drive compassionate care and satisfaction among his patients.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Loganathan enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking (multi-cultural Indian cuisine), biking, and listening to music.
