More than one in 10 U.S. parents are also caring for an adult parent or relative, according to data from the Pew Research Center.  Women in this “sandwich generation” face increased stress providing care for their children and aging parents simultaneously, often to the detriment of their health. Dr. Christine Masterson, Chief of Women, Children, and Dermatology, appeared on “Think Tank with Steve Adubato” to discuss the prevalence of stress among women in this group, how they can cope, and the importance of health screenings, annual exams, exercise, and self-care. “It’s okay to say ‘no’ and it’s okay to ask for help…to create a community of support to help,” said Dr. Masterson. She also discussed the added stress caused by COVID-19 and helped to debunk myths about infertility and the COVID-19 vaccine. Watch the full segment here.
